Overview

Cité du Vin is an architectural masterpiece and cultural landmark that opened in 2016, transforming Bordeaux's waterfront. Designed by XTU Architects, the curved golden building evokes swirling wine in a glass and the knotted vines of old. Inside, the immersive "Permanent Tour" takes visitors through 20 themed zones exploring wine cultures from around the world - from ancient Georgia to modern Napa Valley. The experience culminates in the Belvedere tasting room with 360° views over Bordeaux and a glass of wine from a curated selection. Perfect for understanding wine before visiting the vineyards around Bordeaux or exploring Saint-Émilion.
